The cultural context surrounding tattoos is interesting. People get tattooed for a number of reasons. My new tattoo represents the Egyptian Goddess Bast. Bast held a number of different roles throughout history. She was the goddess of sunrise, music, and dance. But most importantly the protector of women, children, and cats.

The artist who worked on me is Amy Justin, at Scared Rose Tattoo. Amy is an amazing person and artist – so if you ever want to get a tattoo give her a call. Thank you Amy!

That’s so gorgeous! I’m currently part-way through getting a 3/4 sleeve done, but have to wait till the new year to get it finished – money’s a bit scarce at this time of year!
That’s a really lovely tattoo – and I love what it represents. x
You go girl! This is just the best! and I’m not at all surprised of it’s meaning…. *hugs friend warmly*
Nice! She did a great job. I really like the blue butterfly, it’s a great color!
Hey thanks for all the compliments! I LOVE the tattoo – she did an amazing job. Now I need to start saving up for my next one. Maybe a mermaid? Are there any mermaid goddesses?
