RowdyReaders — take some time to contemplate the following questions. Maybe you will consider sharing some of your responses in the comments section.
1. What did you want to be when your grew up?
2. What have you always wanted to do that your haven’t yet done?
3. What have you done in your life that you are really proud of?
4. If you knew you were going to die within a year, how would you spend that year?
5. What brings you the most fulfillment – and how is that related to money?
6. If you didn’t have to work for a living, what would you do with your time?
The questions above, are from Chapter 4 in Your Money or Your Life.
Detailing each of my responses to these questions, will take way too long. Too sum up — I love writing, spending time with friends/family, flexibility and being outside.
Taking the time to fully answer these questions and examining how you want to spend your life energy is an excellent transition to Step 4.
“3 Questions that will transform your life”
In this step, we had to go back to our monthly tabulation sheet and evaluate our spending by asking 3 questions about the total amount we spent, in each subcategory.
1. Did I receive fulfillment, satisfaction and value in proportion to life energy spent?
2. Is this expenditure of life energy in alignment with my values and life purpose?
3. How might this expenditure change if I didn’t have to work for a living. What expenses would increase, decrease or disappear if I didn’t go to work everyday?
Step 4 is a key component to this program and is an important self-evaluation tool. You are able to examine your true consumption patterns. Asking these questions each month will help “clarify values and what you are in alignment with and draw you closer to your true purpose in life.”
