Tiny Floating Homes and a Beer Drinking Kitten…

by Tammy on May 19, 2009

Rain, rain and rain. It was pouring when I arrived in Portland last week, but I loved every minute of it. Especially since the heat is on in California (it was 95 degrees when I got back home). But I digress…

Steph's Floating Home...

I finally met Steph, of Coming Unmoored, in person and we had a great afternoon. We talked about tiny homes, future projects and ate some amazing food. If you are planning on heading to Portland, check out The Old Wives’ Tale. They have vegan and vegetarian choices on the menu.

Steph’s floating home is absolutely beautiful. The view of the Columbia River is spectacular and Rumi, the beer drinking kitten, is the sweetest little cuddle bug. Our tiny slumber party was a lot of fun and I woke up to the sun peaking through beautiful dark clouds on the Columbia River. Steph’s little home has a lovely view of  McGuire Island. Since there was a break in the storm, I got up and ran around the marina (in my pajamas) taking pictures. :) Logan told me, “You wouldn’t make a good spy.”

I was surprised to see so many BIG floating homes. Steph’s little place is dwarfed in comparison to the McMansion’s on logs. Some of the big homes are between 2000 and 3000 square feet.

I can understand why Steph bought this tiny floating home; the atmosphere is peaceful and you can’t beat the view.

Check in tomorrow; I have a vareity of Portland posts in the works. :)

It was great to have you out here! Hopefully the next time you’re out here the interior will be a little more finished.

Between you and Amanda, Rumi was completely full of himself by the end of the weekend.
