I’m participating in The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. Are you?
Q. What book – fiction or non – touched you? Where were you when you read it? Have you bought and given away multiple copies?
A. Logan purchased No Impact Man about a month ago. Originally, I’d planned to check it out of the library. But it’s nice to support writers and we’ll donate the used copy to the library.
The book rocked my world and I couldn’t put it down. For two or three nights I snuggled in bed reading No Impact Man. As a result, I had a few disturbing dreams about garbage filling our oceans, rivers and streets. Despite the bad dreams, the book was thought provoking and left me with a lot of questions, like….
- How I can make a positive impact in the world when everyone is trashing the planet?
- Why do we continue to trash each other?
- Why do people continue to buy stuff? Stuff that won’t make them happy?
The book prompted me to think seriously about the amount of trash I generate everyday. Composting has helped reduce the amount of stuff I trash, but I need to do more. Once the New Year starts, I’m planning on NOT purchasing items covered in plastic. I’d love to say goodbye to the toxic stuff forever.

Hi
I just wanted to say thanks for the link love and I’m wishing you well with your new year’s resolution. You know where to come if you need support with that
For us, we’re planning a total ‘zero waste’ year! This year’s goal was to create just one dustbin of rubbish; which, fingers crossed we will attain, but next year will be the ultimate no waste year.
yikes!
Thank you Mrs. Green! I’ll be swinging by periodically for support.
