Hydrangeas: Gift of 2009

by Tammy on December 25, 2009

Bowling in West Sac15I’m participating in The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. Are you?

Q. Gift. What’s a gift you gave yourself this year that has kept on giving?

A. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers and I decided to cover my upper arm in ink with these lovely blossoms.

Why?

My Grandparents loved hydrangeas. They were everywhere in both of their tiny yards. As I kid, I remember walking up to their homes and admiring the blossom colors. The blues, pinks and white colors stood out like the stars.

My Grandparents were amazing people and when I look at my tattoo I’m reminded of two caring people who touched my life. People who taught me about the value of friendship, kindness and modest living.

Love your hydrangeas on your arm! Did you ever notice how pretty they are even when dried? I think they are one of the most beautiful flowers too. It will be so nice to have flowers return again this spring. I appreciate them more each year.

Wonderful gift, and most importantly, it has a deep value. It is certainly beyond any material gift you can give yourself. Beyond even the ink, I think the meaning is wonderful and being able to remember your grandparents is the best thing you could have ever done.

Thanks Liz. I can’t wait to see your new ink. You’ll have to do a post about the experience. :)
