Recycling A Moleskine Notebook

by Tammy on December 17, 2009

I have a few Moleskine Notebooks that are filled up, but I don’t want to trash the hardcover portion of the journal.

Have any of you recycled a moleskine notebook or done something crafty with it once it’s filled up? I’m looking for a few artistic ideas. Please leave a comment and share a few of your crafty tips…

A friend of mine used to frame her Moleskine sketchbooks in a shadowbox when she was done with them. She would either pin the book open to her favorite sketch, or if she had decorated the outside of the book she would keep the book closed and have photocopies of her sketches in the background of the frame. It was a way for her to keep her books intact while also using them as decoration.

@Michelle – that is a fantastic idea. I don’t do a lot of sketching in my moleskine, but I might start. Does she have any pictures to share? I’d love to see some of the shadowboxes. Thanks for reading the blog! :)

I just heard back from my friend and all her framed books are in storage because she and her husband are living in Australia right now :( Otherwise I would include a pic for you!

No worries! I’m happy for her; I’m sure she’s enjoying Australia. :) Take care and thanks for reading the blog.

Unfortunately, I don’t use moleskins. They are so nice and well done, but I find my iPod really handy for note taking. Also I use iGoogle for reminders.

But Michelle’s suggestion is indeed wonderful, makes me want a moleskin.

Have you been to http://www.moleskinerie.com/ ? They occasionally post different ways to alter moleskines. They also have cool info about other artists who use them.
