Driving to Portland6Week of December 28th

The holiday season is here and I hope you’re enjoying it!

I’ll be out of town for a few weeks visiting family, looking for an apartment in Portland and taking a break from the internet. I’ll still be online, just not as much. :) If I’m slow to respond or approve comments, please be patient.

Next News Update

I won’t post a Simple Living News Update until January 11th. In the meantime, take a peak at some of the past updates. There is a wealth of information at your finger tips.

Have fun and do good!

Tammy, I’ve done a lot of research up there, without yet being on the ground… The Pearl is very chic, but very expensive. Those high rises also seem to have a bad rep of doggy poop in the halls and elevators. Most of the Lloyd Center places have complaints about thin walls and noise (I think most apartments might fall into that area of discomfort.) Certain areas of the NE and SE are a bit seedy, so you have to look at each neighborhood area on it’s own merits. If Logan is going to Intel, then you should stay out west in Hillsboro or Beaverton. I’ve been watching traffic cams for weeks, and it gets really busy in the rush hours, so I’d suggest living close to work if you can. I’ve been looking at the NE area, some SE, as far out as Gresham (was told to avoid Troutdale at all costs.) I’m glad you’ll actually be up there to look, I won’t get there myself until about the 11th.

Good luck!
Phil

Thanks for the tips Phil. I hope we find something cute. We looking to live in the northwest area; it’s the best location for us. Close to work, food, etc.

Good luck with your big move and thanks again for the tips!
