I’m participating in The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. Are you?
Q. Insight or aha! moment. What was your epiphany of the year?
A. Fear is an emotion that’s always present. I try not to let the emotion hold me back from new opportunities and options. Every time fear gets the best of me, I think about something my tattoo artist said…
The world is a magical place. You just have to open up your eyes up long enough to see it. Big institutions have a vested interest in keeping us stuck and scared. The world is a better place than we think…
The world is magical and we’re hoping to find a lot of magic in Portland. We’ve been thinking about moving to Portland for the last year and we’re finally making the big move at the end of January. I’m scared and excited all at once. I’m scared of leaving my community, being without a traditional job, and seeing my tiny business fail. But I’m far more excited about living in a vibrant, green city, with awesome public transportation and a strong cycling/coffee culture.

Not only is your tattoo beautiful, but Amy is a wise woman. I just looked at her portfolio and holy cow, what amazing work.
I’m excited for your move!
Thanks Chris! We’re excited too. Amy is wise, sweet and extremely talented. If you ever want a tattoo, go see her.
Happy Holidays and thanks for reading the blog!

What a great a-ha moment. For me, fear is sometimes an indicator that I’m trying to stay comfortable, so when I notice it pop up I have to dig into what it’s really about so I don’t stick myself with regret instead of opportunity. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi Dian – I agree; fear is usually a sign that I’m trying to stay in my comfort zone. So when it crops up, I try and examine what’s really going on with me…
Thanks for leaving a comment. And yay for the best of 09 challenge! It’s been so much fun.
Hugs to you…
I love the gusto of trying something new. More often than not, we don’t fail. Hugs.
checkered? yes, absolutely. stripes, as in one big yellow one? don’t think so.
Yes indeed, the world is a wonderful place once you find out. So far I have been enjoying it at it’s best.
Fear is always there, but what makes us really stand out is just those simple seconds where we take a decision without that fear consuming us. Wonderful aha! moment.
Portland? Oregon?
Good luck on your move! I lived there for a couple years after Davis and Sacramento, before I returned to Midtown. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks Tami.
We should get together for coffee while I’m still in mid-town. It would be great to meet you in person and we can talk more about Portland. We’re very excited about our upcoming move. It’s such an awesome city.
We’ve been on an apartment scouting mission this week. I think we might settle in NW Portland and then go from there. It will be close to work, coffee and the park. Yay!
Hugs….
