I’m participating in The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. Are you?
Q. Web tool. It came into your work flow this year and now you couldn’t live without it.
A. I discovered Twitter in late 2008, but didn’t use it for my workflow until 2009.
Tracking the news for my job, RowdyKittens, connecting with friends and meeting new people are some of the ways I use Twitter. It’s simplified and improved my online experience tremendously, when used responsibly. Twitter is a beautiful, yet addicting tool.
I could spend all day on twitter, talking with people, reading articles and retweeting pure awesomeness. But that wouldn’t leave time for writing, biking, yoga, the kittens or spending time Logan, etc.
Balance is important and spending all day on twitter isn’t healthy. Below are a few tips, I’ve integrated into my work flow to promote balance (when using Twitter):
1. Twitter is like a river, don’t try and drink it all. Review status updates three times a day at maximum.
2. Limit the amount of time spent on twitter to, 15 minutes per sitting.
3. Respond to Twitter requests within 1-2 business days.

I still just don’t “get” Twitter. I use it to update my followers on new posts to my blog, but that’s about it. That makes me wonder if I’ve found the “secret” to it yet. I enjoy the interaction on FB much more.
@Kerri @Alejandro – I think it’s important to use the tools you enjoy, but also to explore different social networking services.
I’ve met so many amazing peeps via twitter; I just love it.
Have you watched Twitter in Plain English?
This is the most awesome video about twitter I have seen. Thanks for sharing Tammy. Maybe I should really show this video to my brother, who doesn’t understand why Twitter is important now.
Not only is it a great app, you gave us great tips to work with as well. Hooray!!
I started using Twitter this year, and so far I’m still learning the ropes. Still I’m happy with it, you can find and learn a lot of things there if you follow the right people. I still fall a bit behind what I should be doing, but overall it’s a great service.
