Katy Anderson and Dee Williams recently started their own tiny house company, called Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD).
I’ve been working with Dee and Katy on their website and it’s ready to share with the world! I’m really excited about this project and it’s been a pleasure working with two amazing women.
Below is a summary of PAD. Be sure to explore the website and subscribe to the news feed.
Welcome to Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD), a tiny house construction company based in Portland Oregon. We’re dedicated to creating small, eco-friendly dwellings that fit your needs.
Our structures are designed on wheels, giving you the flexibility of placing them in just the right spot for today, and into the future. A PAD offers a perfect extension to any home, as an office space, writing studio, retreat space or guest studio. It can also be built as fully equipped, self-contained tiny dwellings.
Our company is focused on the use of quality, environmentally-friendly products; bringing expert craftsmanship to the forefront in all aspects of the building process. Use one of our plans, or bring your own – we can work with you to create a PAD that fits your needs and, let’s face it, will likely be the cutest thing on the block.
Want to build your own? PAD also provides design and building consultation, we host workshops, and want to encourage you (in whatever way possible) to dream big, and build small.

The site looks great! Congrats on the launch Tammy!
Very interesting project. Too bad I don’t live in Portland. I will follow the page anyway since the project is well worth it.
Maybe one day it will be closer to me. =)
Hi:
I so love your Rowdy Kittens site…more please! I’ve bookmarked it for future reference. My husband and I are researching the very lifestyle that you now live. We are both in our mid 50s, soon to be empty- nesters. I’m without a job right now (I’m a contract writer and illustrator), with him soon to be without one. He works for a local newspaper. We are paying for an approx 1,500 sq ft house at $1080 a month. That’s not going to be possible after a while and we hate debt. We are scrambling to reassess and rethink absolutely everything, everything we own, every thing we do. We both grew up without a lot of “things”, so that’s not such a terrible idea and we love the possibilities. My husband says he’s a true luddite at heart!
Thank you for your work and for sharing.
Best Wishes,
Susan Barefoot
