Unconventional Guides Are Rockin’ My World

by Tammy on January 22, 2010

You don’t have to live your life the way other people expect you to.

Have I mentioned how much I love Chris Guillebeau lately? I recently finished re-reading 279 Days to Overnight Success and Social Media As a Force of Good. These guides are amazing and inspiring. If you haven’t read any of Chris’s work before, head over to his blog and review the content. I’d also highly recommend reading a few of his free reports:

The Brief Guide to World Domination manifesto helps you learn to defeat gatekeepers and take over the world (peaceful goals are accommodated too). The sequel, 279 Days to Overnight Success, tells the case study of this site and how you can create your own unconventional career. Both of these reports are completely free.

Breaking out of the 9-5

Earlier this week, I signed up for the $100 business course and am so excited! The class is perfect timing. Especially since I’ll be working on my tiny business full time this year. I’m looking forward to helping others with their upcoming projects and learning all I can from Chris, Pam and my classmates. The extra support will help me work past my fears, challenges and remember the big aha of 2009. :)

If you are interested in becoming a full-time writer, blogger or artist, the tips offered by Chris are practical and easy to implement.

Full disclosure: I’m participating in the unconventional affiliate program. If you purchase any unconventional guides, I’ll receive a 51% commission. So you’ll be supporting RowdyKittens and The Art of Non-Conformity.

I find myself amazed that these wonderful pieces past under my radar. Maybe I was distracted with something shiny or a piece of weird code. Anyway, I think I know what I will be purchasing during this weekend.

Thanks for sharing Tammy!

Hi Tammy,

I own all these guides already, otherwise I would have used your affiliate link. I got the heads up email from Chris on his $100 Business tutoring with the woman who wrote Escape From Cubicle Nation, but unfortunately, the first class sold out in 90 minutes and the second not too long after so I missed out. I’d be interested in reading your review of it, without obviously giving away too much of Chris’s proprietary information.

I should check into the affiliate program myself but my blog is only five weeks old and I donno if I’m pulling decent enough traffic. But I have no problem recommending Chris’s stuff ‘cuz it’s great.

Good luck!

@Charley – I think you should consider the affiliate program. You’re got an awesome blog and some great content. You could always add a “Products I Love” page to your site. It might be a good way to aggregate stuff that you love and products you’d recommend to your readers. (Just food for thought). :)

Are you tracking your blog traffic? If not, check outGoogle Analytics – it’s a great tool. :)

@Chris – Thanks for the kind words about my blog header. The fabulous Jamie designed it for me. :) I’m looking forward to the class and being in Portland! It’s a perfect beginning – a new city, freelance work and a fun class too. Life is good. :)

Hi, Tammy!
I just saw your link to the Art of Non-Conformity and how artists can build a business. I’m very interested, yet I am not the type of person to drop money for this kind of thing usually. Can you tell me more about this group? I am very intrigued, there seems to be some good beneficial difference with this presentation.

Thank you so much!
Tracey

Hey Tracey – thanks for leaving a comment. :) I highly recommend Chris’s ebooks. They are amazing, inspiring and contain a wealth of information. Chris has a website explaining the Unconventional Guide to Art and Money. Go check it out and watch the video. If you’re not comfortable with spending money right now, read some of Chris’s free ebooks. It will give you an idea of his writing style.

As a side note – I really enjoy Chris’s approach to writing. His products contain a well written information, plus audio interviews with kick ass artists. If it helps Chris offers a 100% “Satisfaction + Effectiveness” guarantee. :) Thanks for reading the blog! Good luck! :)
