Today is the launch of my first ebook, Simply Car-free: How to Pedal Toward Financial Freedom and Better Health. I’ve been working on this book since the beginning of February and it’s finally ready!
About Simply Car-free
I wrote Simply Car-free to help people save money and pedal toward a healthier life. The book is full of tips, tools and strategies that will help you live a good life, without having to depend on an automobile.
Long-time blog readers may notice that I’ve integrated some of my older articles into this book. Not all of the ideas are new, but the material has been updated.

Spreading the word
I’m an independent writer and this blog is my primary source of income. It would be awesome if you would help spread the word about this project. Below is a list of ideas:
1. Tell your friends and family about Simply Car-free.
2. Share this post on Twitter or facebook.
3. Write a review of Simply Car-free on your blog.
4. Become an affiliate seller.
Props
Writing a book doesn’t occur in a vacuum. Accepting help, support and encouragement are gifts that I’m grateful to have received. With that in mind…
A big THANK YOU goes to: Logan Smith, Chris O’Byrne, and Everett Bouge.
These individuals put a lot of time and energy into this project and I couldn’t have completed it without their support and encouragement.

I’ve read it and enjoyed it as well. I’ll be posting a short review next Saturday! I hope the launch goes well.
@Sam – Yay! I’m so happy you enjoyed the book.
And thanks for taking the time to write a review. It’s much appreciated.
I’m in an elite group! It was a joy to edit your book. The best part of all was getting to read it early! Since I just moved to a new city where I can bike year round, the timing of reading your book was perfect. I learned a lot of useful information from Simply Car-free.
@Chris – LOL! Dude you are a rock star editor. Seriously.
Thanks for all your help!
Just finished it, Tammy. Will be getting my review up today. (I got rid of my truck March 2008, and haven’t had a car since, so it speaks to me
)
@James – Yay! I didn’t know you got rid of your truck. Very cool.
Yay, Tammy!
I live in Harris County, which is the outer limits of Houston. As you probably know, most of Texas (exception: Austin) is very anti-bike and pedestrian. There are few choices for people who would like to be car-less. I teach at a school that is 15 minutes away by car but on several busy roads with higher speed limits and crazy drivers. I plan to be more active in promoting more sidewalks and bike lanes out here in northwest Houston.
Cheers to a great book launch!
@Laura – Yes, I’ve heard of the issues in Texas. I’m glad to hear you’re going to get more involved in your community. I talk about the importance of community involvement in the book. Policies won’t change until citizens demand it.
I did a quick google search and discovered a cool blog called Cycle Dallas and the Texas Biking Coalition. They sound like cool resources. The authors/staff might be able to connect you with cyclists closer to your town.
Congrats!!! So well-deserved
(actually come to think of it, I’ve never owned a car…)
I can’t wait to read it.
I myself am already a car-free convert
@Beth – Yay! I appreciate your support.
WOW – I’m impressed. Never owning a car is an accomplishment! You go girl.
Hi Tammy – saw this and thought of you….http://www.workcycles.com/workbike/ – Have Fun Jo
Congratulations Tammy, it is a firm step in the right direction! I’ll be posting a review soon. I really wish you a lot of success!
Congrats Tammy! I’ll be purchasing one today!
