Unconventional Guides Are Rockin’ My World

by Tammy on January 22, 2010

You don’t have to live your life the way other people expect you to.

Have I mentioned how much I love Chris Guillebeau lately? I recently finished re-reading 279 Days to Overnight Success and Social Media As a Force of Good. These guides are amazing and inspiring. If you haven’t read any of Chris’s work before, head over to his blog and review the content. I’d also highly recommend reading a few of his free reports:

The Brief Guide to World Domination manifesto helps you learn to defeat gatekeepers and take over the world (peaceful goals are accommodated too). The sequel, 279 Days to Overnight Success, tells the case study of this site and how you can create your own unconventional career. Both of these reports are completely free. [click to continue…]

Just Do It! Challenges of 2009

by Tammy on December 9, 2009

famer's market roses

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

I’m participating in The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. Are you?

Q. Challenge. Something that really made you grow this year. That made you go to your edge and then some. What made it the best challenge of the year for you?

A. The biggest challenges of 2009: Working on my tiny freelancing business, leaving my day job and moving to a new city.

Over Thanksgiving, we decided to move to Portland and I decided to leave my day job. I’ve been working in the anti-violence field for the last 10 years, either as a volunteer, researcher or victim advocate. So leaving the field was a hard decision to make. As hard as it is to leave, I know it’s time for a change.

Moving to a new town and making a huge career change is scary as hell but exciting too! Even if I fail, at least I made the leap. Rather than talking about my dreams for years and years, I’m doing it.

I have a feeling that 2010 will be a year of growth, change and challenges.
